Measurement

Pre-K Friends learn about measurement. We use different words to measure things: short and tall, hot and cold, heavy and light, empty and full. People use different tools to measure things. In our class we decided to find out how is the tallest  and we used not traditional units for measuring- APPLES.  Everyone had different idea how many apples he or she is tall. For example, Alisa thought she is 5 apples tall, Dovid thought that he is ten apples tall.  It was fun to measure each other.
Next week we are going to learn about weight and capacity.
Note to Parents: The measurements are not easy but involved in our everyday life. We please help your child begin to understand these concepts by trying these activities at home:
Weight- If you have a scale at home,weight your child on a scale. Invite your child to weight other items to see they weight more or less than your child.
Capacity- whether your child is digging in the sandbox, bathing in the tub or helping you with cooking, challenge your child to think how many shovels of sand are in a bucket, or how many spoons of sugar are in a cup? Have fun!
