Community Safety Helpers- Fire Fighters

On Thursday we met other community helpers- Fire Fighters, people who put out fires and help us to learn about fire safety. Fires can be dangerous. We can prevent fires.  Never play with matches! Matches are not toys. We also sould be careful around stoves, heaters, and fireplaces.
When we met firefighters we learned that...

A firefighter has a special uniform that protects his body.

They ride a Fire Truck!

They use a ladder to reach high places.

At the Fire Station we learned some safety rules.

  • When you see a fire  quickly go outside! Never hide in the house. If there is smoke act like a baby- CRAWL OUT!

  • Call 911

  • Don't come back to the house for your favorite toy!

  • Don't put the fire out! It is not your job! Get out! Get out!

  • If there is fire on your clothes, STOP, DROP and ROLL over and over until the fire is out.
  • We practice what to do if there is a lot of smoke.
