Our World- Planets and Stars

On the forth day of creation Hashem created Planets and Stars. In the class we shared what we know about stars and planets. There is what our friends said,

At night there are starts and moon, but sun comes in the morning. (Rachel)
Stars make a bit of light. ( Daniel Rozin)
Before our planet did not have people, it had volcanoes. Earth turns so fast, it changes. We can live on Earth. (Ryan)
Planets have aliens. They came at night.(Daniel P)
Starts make light. Some of them are not bright. (Alisa)
We learned that there are billions stars that we see at night. But there is one that shines during the day- SUN. The sun is the closest star to Earth. It is so bright that we can't see other stars during the day. Every day Earth turns around. When continent where we live faces sun, it is day. When our side turns away from the sun, it is night. That is when we see other stars which are very very far away for Earth.
Stars are made of gas. They are hot! Stars have colors, too. The sun is a yellow- orange star. Hard to believe, but blue stars are the hotter than the sun. Red starts are not as hot as the sun. We learned as well that starts twinkle, planets not.

There are 8 Planets- Earth, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune. We live on one of eight planets that has water on its surface. If the Earth was closer to the sun,  the oceans would boil away. If it was farther away, the oceans would freeze. The earth has a  moon that doesn't make light but reflects the sun light. Another thing that we learn about Earth is that there is force that pulls all things down, even us, it is GRAVITY! In the class we experimented with different things to see how gravity pulls them down. We throw things like ball, dice, piece of light paper in the air... GRAVITY pulled them down. Then how does a rocket ships fight gravity?  With the help of very powerful engines that send them into space. In space there is no gravity. Everything that is not tied, strapped or held floats in space. Learning about other planets characteristics  we concluded that none of them but one has everything that living things need - EARTH. We discussed as well that aliens are made up creatures, made up by people like made characters - unicorns,  Sponge Bob and Batman.
