My Family

On Monday our class started a new theme "My Family". When the children came into the classroom they noticed new pictures that had been posted on the experience board- pictures of their families. What a surprise!

We discussed what a family is and this is what the children responded:
It is people. (Dalia)
Family is just living together. (Ryan)
You know who is in your family. It is in your house. (Daniel R.)
Family live together. (Alisa)
There is a family in your house. You like them to be your family. (Daniel)
When you are in the family, you are in the family. (Sara)
Everyone has own family. (Leah)
When you are born you can't live in the different family. (Ariella)
I like to play with Menny in his house. He is my neighbor. (Dovid)
Tatty, Mommy, Sofie and me are members of my family. (Rachel and Morah)

WOW! Our children have great thoughts about what is a family. Then Morah taught a rhyme about the families.

Some families are large.
Some families are small.
But I love my family best of all!

During Math Centers we built a graph to see who has a large family and who has a small family. Morah was very happy to see that some of us did not forget to include our grandparents as a part of our family! We drew pictures of our families and discussed why we love our families. We really hope our parents will be delighted to see the pictures.
